Supernova Eisenstadt Shopping Center Officially Opens

Eisenstadt, 7 May 2026 – The new Supernova Eisenstadt shopping center at the former kikaLeiner location officially opened today.

After around seven months of redevelopment, a modern shopping and meeting destination has been created, combining retail, gastronomy, and services across a total area of approximately 14,700 m². Around 8,000 m² are dedicated to retail and fitness offerings, approximately 700 m² to gastronomy, and 800 m² to office space. In total, 209 parking spaces are available for visitors on-site.

The official opening ceremony took place today at 9:00 a.m. Together with Mayor Thomas Steiner, Center Manager Lucas Hadwiger and Markus Pinggera, Managing Director of the Supernova Group, inaugurated the new shopping center. Numerous visitors and guests took the opportunity to explore the new location for the first time and enjoy attractive offers as well as food and refreshments on-site. Among the honorary guests were President of the Provincial Parliament Astrid Eisenkopf, District Chairwoman Waltraud Bachmaier, and FPÖ Regional Managing Director Rudolf Smolej.

The tenant mix at Supernova Eisenstadt includes Lidl, TEDi, KiK, NKD, Elite Fitness Club, Möbel Atlas, Handyshop Mera, Noodle King, Ossi’s Bowl & Streetfood, CrossFit Eisenstadt, as well as Installationstechnik Wild GmbH, Derrmanova, and a local billiards club. The location combines everyday retail, gastronomy, fitness, and essential services in one modern destination. The concept is further complemented by office spaces ranging from 20 to 250 m², offering flexible working and business opportunities. In the first phase alone, the revitalized location will create around 40 new jobs.

“With Supernova Eisenstadt, we are purposefully further developing an existing retail location and creating a modern center that meaningfully combines everyday shopping, services, leisure, and working environments. We are investing around EUR 11 million in the sustainable development of the site. Our goal is to create places with a future that provide real added value for people in the region while also generating new economic momentum,” explains Markus Pinggera, Managing Director of the Supernova Group.

The City of Eisenstadt also views the revitalization of the former furniture store location very positively: “While vacant properties remain elsewhere, Eisenstadt demonstrates how successful development can be achieved. The revitalization of this large former furniture store reflects the dynamic nature of our business location and the responsible use of existing infrastructure. One particularly important aspect is that no additional land was sealed. Instead, an existing building was meaningfully redeveloped – fully in line with a sustainable urban development policy. Overall, Eisenstadt is on a very positive path. A high quality of life, strong infrastructure, numerous jobs, and our intact natural surroundings make the city attractive to many people – both as a place to live and as a business location. I wish all entrepreneurs great success, many satisfied customers, and a successful start at this location,” said Mayor Thomas Steiner.

Additional Openings to Follow in Autumn
The offering at the location will continue to grow over the coming months: Additional spaces for gastronomy, retail, and services will be added step by step, with further openings planned for autumn. The further expansion of the site’s energy and infrastructure concepts has also already been confirmed. In addition, the location features more than 1,300 m² of green space, while the number of trees on-site has been increased by 26 to a total of 37. During the course of 2027, a rooftop photovoltaic system covering around 300 m² will be installed to supply the shopping center and 11 EV charging stations with solar energy.

Following the opening of Supernova Villach, the Supernova Group continues its strategy in Eisenstadt of repositioning existing retail properties and adapting them to the current needs of customers, tenants, and regional communities. The revitalization of former kika and Leiner locations is a key component of Supernova’s development projects in Austria.
